Pennoweth Primary School Breaks Ground

Excited pupils donned their site gear and picked up a spade to signal the start of work on a major extension to their school in Redruth.

The £1.9 million project at Pennoweth Primary School, which is part of the Crofty Multi-Academy Trust, is being carried out to meet growing demand for places in the local area and will enable the school intake to increase from 315 to 420 pupils.

Midas Construction is building the new single storey extension which will provide new teaching rooms and a new small hall in addition to creating an accessible and sustainable building for the expanding school.

It is fantastic to see the pupils so excited about the changes being made to their school and we were delighted to be able to involve them in signalling the start of work on site

Mark Jones, Operational Director at Midas Construction

Designed by Poynton Bradbury architects and project managed by MWJV, the project will integrate with the existing school via a new glazed entrance lobby and reception area as well as a new covered walkway. With work now under way on site, the aim is for the transformation to be complete in time for the start of the new school year in September 2022.

The new building will make a huge difference to the pupils and staff at the school and the local community it serves.
