At Poynton Bradbury Architects, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Each project challenges us to think critically about the environmental impact of our designs, and as a business, we are deeply committed to reducing our ecological footprint.

We are proud to support Plant One in their vital reforestation efforts across Cornwall, helping to restore woodland habitats and create a greener future for generations to come.

Making a Lasting Impact

Plant One, a Community Interest Company, connects businesses, individuals, and landowners to plant trees in Cornish soil. Their work not only enhances biodiversity but also preserves Cornwall’s natural beauty. Every penny they receive goes directly toward planting trees, ensuring that every contribution has a tangible impact.

Since our partnership began in 2022, we have played an active role in planting over 1,000 trees across three key reforesting sites: Carnkie, Farms Common, and most recently, Praze. At Praze alone, a total of 8,500 trees will link three existing copses, forming a remarkable 16.5-hectare woodland that will benefit local wildlife and the wider environment.

Beyond volunteering, we remain dedicated to supporting local environmental initiatives. In 2024, we proudly donated £2,500 to Plant One, directly sponsoring the planting of even more trees and reinforcing our commitment to combating climate change at a local level.

Britain was once a wooded isle, with over 98% of the land covered in trees. But now only 2% of that ancient wild wood survives. Cultural amnesia means we have forgotten our woodland past but we are a people of the woods. Our fates are linked, ensuring the survival of our woodlands and trees is imperative to our future.

Supporting Plant One’s Mission

Together, we are helping Plant One to achieve their seven core aims:

1. Enabling the community to plant trees where they’re most needed by matching landowners with businesses

2. Restoring the Celtic Rainforest

3. Habitat creation and improvement for wildlife

4. Providing expertise enabling landowners to increase biodiversity

5. Creating public access woodland

6. Increasing carbon capture within the UK through local communities

7. Supporting local communities to increase the UK’s canopy cover

We are excited to continue our work with Plant One and look forward to seeing these new woodlands flourish. Sustainability is more than a goal—it’s a responsibility, and we are proud to play our part.
