Fistral Beach Lifeguard Station

  • Client RNLI
  • Location Newquay, Cornwall
  • Cost £590k
  • Completed 2010

The station provides Fistral Beach lifeguards with a base in a commanding position and with immediate access to the water.

The facility includes a look-out room with panoramic views across the beach and water, on-site vehicle storage and a treatment and first aid room.

The innovative design provides level access from the carpark into the rear of the building as well as a ramped vehicular entrance directly from the beach.

The building is exposed to the full force of the Atlanic Ocean, including wind-driven rain, sand and salt. For this reason we ensured a robust construction with meticulous attention paid to the specification of materials and how they were detailed in order to avoid ongoing maintenance problems, storm damage and corrosion.

RNLI lifeguards

"The new lifeguard facilities improved the ability of the RNLI lifeguards to observe the entire beach effectively and respond to incidents rapidly, as well as being in a comfortable and secure place to carry out first aid and store their rescue equipment".
