Poynton Bradbury Architects were appointed by St Michaels Hotel & Spa in Falmouth, Cornwall to create a long-term vision and masterplan for the luxury international-style resort.
The scheme is the single largest 'delegated' approval ever achieved in Cornwall. The masterplan addressed several challenges to create a cohesive, luxurious scheme both for hotel users and the public alike. The hotel refurbishment and expansion project includes improved access, luxury spa facilities, a new premium events wing and west wing extension.
Within the masterplan, seventy-five serviced apartments and lodges have also been fully designed to the luxurious standards of the hotel. The Liner building to the South of the masterplan has recently been fully designed and delivered by the practice and provides fifty-two beachfront apartments and penthouses, with allocated parking and lift access. With its distinct design and high specification, The Liner building is adjacent to the existing hotel and overlooks Gyllyngvase Beach, offering the very best in contemporary coastal living. The masterplan also included The Beach House project.
Extensive landscape designs have been created to tie-in all the aspects of the masterplan and to create an interactive public realm to the South of the site onto Cliff Road & Gyllyngvase Beach. The masterplan has been designed in such a way that the scheme can be delivered over a series of phases.
